World Mental Health Day: Pick Me Up Playlist Tag

Heyo, peeps!

Spinette and I both adore music. We talk mostly about music when we text. But we listen to vastly different genres of music. Spinette adores K-pop while I prefer alternative rock. I usually listen to pessimistic songs. (Hey, I’m a pessimistic person *shrugs*.) In fact, a common complaint of Spinette’s is that I listen to too many songs about death. However, I’ll try to stick to the more upbeat ones for this tag.

I’m so excited to share my music with you guys!

I was tagged by the ever wonderful Sophia Ismaa. Go check out her blog, peeps, you won’t be disappointed.

Music helps me relax while I do my homework. I am up to my eyeballs in homework. My eyeballs are sad.

1. Unstoppable by The Score

The Score is one of my favorite bands and this is my favorite song by them. Listen to the lyrics. Very Pick Me Up. (I’m succeeding at following the rules of this tag!)

2. Better by OneRepublic

A very terrific song. It makes me happy.

I think I’ve lost my mind. Don’t worry about it. Happens all the time. In the morning I’ll be better.

Me too.

3. Happier by Bastille and Marshmello

This one’s a new song by the amazing Bastille (and Marshmello) that I love. It makes me happier. The video, ironically, is quite sad.

4. Blood by My Chemical Romance

The tune is very peppy.

5. The Middle by Jimmy Eat World

It just takes some time
Little girl, you’re in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be all right

6. I’m Yours by Jason Miraz

And it’s our God-forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved

7. Pocket Full of Gold by American Authors

Very peppy.

8. Connection by OneRepublic

More pep.

9. Desolation Row by My Chemical Romance

I just like it.

10. Sinners by Barns Courtney

I couldn’t help but pick some negative songs. They pick me up.

Out of curiosity, what’s your favorite song?

It’s My Birthday!

Dudes! It’s my birthday! Which simultaneously amazing and terrifying. Amazing because the entire day is dedicated to celebrating my existence and terrifying because I’m old now. I am turning into a raisin!

Scorpian (my little brother) outdid himself. He got me nine enamel cactus pins and this morning he slid this adorable note under my door. And, gah. He’s just amazing. *Radiating sibling love*

They’ve also left me alone and I have a headache and I’m talking to Siri…

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

I hope you’re all spending your days with your mothers and you made her lovely presents and some popcorn. Or not.

This song, Mama by My Chemical Romance, is my favorite song. And The Black Parade is my latest obsession. I’ve listened to it about seven times. *Sheepish grin*

Why The Greatest Showman Is Not The Greatest Show

If you like The Greatest Showman, I suggest that you leave this post. This is a list of all things I despised about the movie.

  1. Flaky plot
  2. Just waiting for the next song
  3. Listening to all the songs and thinking, “That’s a generic pop song.”
  4. How PT Barnum used the weirdos for profit while telling them they would be famous
  5. CGI ELEPHANTS
  6. Glossing over the fact that Barnum probably abused animals
  7. Glossing over the part of movie where the weirdos were abused by people on the street
  8. Glossing over how the Zendaya and Zac Efron fell in love in the first place
  9. Glossing over the personalities of the weirdos
  10. Glossing over the personalities of Barnum’s family
  11. Glossing over Barnum’s actual personality
  12. GLOSSING OVER EVERYTHING
  13. The opera singer did not sing opera, but a stupid pop ballad thing
  14. Insulting Hannah Montana with “This Is Me.”
  15. Insta Romance with Zac and Zendaya
  16. The argument/agreement song between Zac and Barnum was so bland I forgot it right after it was sung
  17. Most of the songs were so bland I forgot them in the same way
  18. The beginning sounded like something from Fall Out Boy
  19. There was this beautiful scene with Barnum and his family on the roof of their apartment with all these moving sheets and this beautiful night sky but it was wasted on terrible characters and a failure of a plot
  20. How Barnum’s manipulation was seen as good while the ballad singer’s manipulation was seen as bad
  21. A BUNCH OF OTHER THINGS

Mellow Yellow Episode 21: Revenge

TICK is braiding her hair, humming Rawr.

JOHN: Why are you humming that?

TICK: Hmm?

JOHN: Why are you humming that―that disgrace instead of California Gurls?

TICK: What’s a gurl?

JOHN: Well, it’s like a mashup of girl and hurl. It really is quite obvious. I’m almost surprised you couldn’t figure that out on your own.

TICK shrugs lazily.

JOHN: And no one knows what Cali―

TICK (angry): I didn’t ask you what California is. I know what it is, anyway.

JOHN: (jaw drops) You―you know what California is?

TICK: (Shrugs. Says nonchalantly while unbraiding her hair) Yes. That’s what I just said. It’s an area of land, called a state, in another country in an alternate universe where the writer of the song is from.

JOHN doesn’t believe her and walks away, shaking his head in an attempt to remove this insanity

TICK braids her hair again

TOCK enters and stands silently in the doorway for fourteen minutes and 32 seconds before leaving again.

TICK is unbraiding her hair when she hears a doorbell. She opens it and calls over her shoulder

TICK: Quinn! It’s for you!

QUINN walks in and yelps

QUINN: Yelp

An army of bread sandwich ghosts led by BREAD SNADWHICH III converge on QUINN and he is never seen from again

Random Ramblings

I’ve had a bunch of ideas for blog posts, but they’d be way too short to keep you nonexistent readers satisfied for the day, so I’m just going to shove them all together to make one decent-sized, hopefully-entertaining post. Yay addition and math! Forgive me if the thoughts are a bit disconnected.

Dental update–After fixing my eleven cavities, I’ve started taking care of my teeth. This includes flossing, which I rarely never did before. But I have a perfectly logical reason for denying my teeth optimal health. I didn’t like stuffing my fingers in my mouth. It’s annoying. So to remedy this issue, I got floss on a stick! With the wonderful floss on a stick, I don’t have to stick my fingers in my mouth anymore, so I now floss regularly.

Speaking of things on sticks, I want to discuss lollipops. A lollipop is just hard candy on a stick and I strongly dislike them.

A guide to hard candy:

Caramel=good

Jolly Rancher=bad (but I will eat them anyway)

I have two reasons for disliking lollipops:

a) They taste bad

b) The stick that lollipops come on is made of paper, which is water-soluble, which makes it an absolutely idiotic substance to use for the stick on which a food product goes because you put this stick in your mouth and your mouth contains saliva, which is mostly water, and as the stick is water-soluble, it dissolves in your mouth. This is contradictory to what is supposed to happen. You’re not supposed to eat the paper (as paper is not usually a food product), you’re supposed to consume the spherical hard candy on top of the water-soluble paper stick.

It’s an outrage, I know, I know, completely atrocious, but I’ve decided that I like apple cider as much as I do cranberry juice.

The one thing that I really, really want is a bronze spool of thread. It is my current ambition in life.

There are these bushes outside my house with these little red berries and whenever I walk past them, clouds of flies explode out of them for unknown reasons.

A random fact about Spinette and me:

  • Spinette cannot stand the songs Honey I’m Good by Andy Grammar and Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance
  • I cannot stand That’s What I Like by ze unmentionable artist

From what direction do you peal a banana?

I peal a banana from the top.

I think it’s egotistic of people to say that aliens don’t exist.

Well, that was interesting. Maybe I’ll elaborate further on one of these topics in the future. Who knows? *Shrugs*

Quoting Quotes

I started doing this random thing recently. I take nice quotes I come across in books or songs or whatever, write them out, and stick them in my books for me to find later.

So here are some of the quotes I used (none of these are guaranteed to be accurate):

“The truth is what I make it. I could set this world on fire and call it rain.”

—Maven Calore, Red Queen

“When people say impossible, they usually mean improbable.”

—Strumhond, Siege and Storm

“Sometimes before it gets better, the darkness gets bigger/ the person you’d take a bullet for is behind the trigger.”

—Fall Out Boy, I Miss Missing You

If I find another quote, I might just stick it on the end of a future post. What are some of your favorite quotes?

Musics

I personally prefer rock music. Classic rock, indie rock, whatever, but not heavy metal. Surprising, I know.

When I was a kid, I used to say that rock was my least favorite genre of music, without having ever heard it, because I thought it was all screaming and guitar-smashing. So five-year-old me was grouping all rock with heavy metal. But the irony to this is that all my favorite songs were actually rock, I just didn’t know.

So here are the bands I usually listen to (although I’m open to other songs as well):

  • Imagine Dragons!!! – Favorite isn’t a strong enough word to describe how much I love them.
  • The Score– Unstoppable
  • OneRepublic- Counting Stars, Apologize
  • Fall Out Boys
  • Bastille- Pompeii!!!
  • 21 Pilots

And when I don’t feel like listening to words:

  • ThePianoGuys
  • Lindsey Stirling

Obviously:

  • All Star by Smash Mouth

Random Fact: I play the flute. Spinette does too, but she played the baritone for a while. I also played the viola for a year (although I can’t really remember how to anymore) and Spinette plays the piano as well.
