THE QUESTIONS

1. What is one dish you like to cook?I have no idea how to cook. I can make cereal, toast, and pb&j. Of those measly three, cereal is my favorite. (FROSTED MINI WHEATS. GIVE ME.)
2.  How would you describe your favorite pair of shoes?Suede, tan-colored combat boots with faded soles that haven’t fallen apart yet.
3. What is the best thing that you did last week?I walked through a forest. (But this “forest” was next to a highway, so the illusion was kinda broken by the sound of the cars honking and rushing around.) It was a ton a fun and it smelled really good.
4. If you could have lunch with one author (living or dead) who would it be and why?Leigh Bardugo because she created Six of Crows.
5.  What kind of snack do you like to add to your ice cream?Whipped cream. Whipped cream is basically warm ice cream. My favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip.
6. • Also, whipped cream is totally a snack.
7.  If you could return to any decade and visit a movie set, which would you like to see and why?Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It’s my favorite movie and I’d love to see the magic in real life.
8. • Harry Potter because Hogwarts.
9. • I just finished watching Les Miserables yesterday and I loved it, so I’d like to see that set as well.
10. What is a song that makes you smile?Mama by My Chemical Romance.
11. • “Mama, we’re all going to die.” The lyrics just make me happy.
12. What advice would you give to your younger self?Try cotton candy. I swear you’ll love it.
13. What is one food you just can’t eat?Mayonaise.
14. • • Story time!
15. • • One time, my cousin went to a restaurant with her coworkers and she had pasta with alfredo. She adored it, so she wanted to recreate it for us. Except there was one mixup. She thought that the alfredo was mayonaise. I was skeptical because I HATED mayonaise, but her excitement was contagious, so we couldn’t wait for the weekend when she would make us this delicious pasta. She went out and purchased the igredients and made dinner for the entire family that weekend and she was so proud.
16. • • But the pasta was heaped with mayonaise and I gagged at the first bite. My dad made me finish the entire bowl.
17. If you can earn a gold medal in any sport, what would it be and why?I seriously doubt that I’d ever get an aluminum medal in a sport, let alone a gold one. I’m very unathletic. So, my sport is waffle consumption.
18. What is something you wish you could add to your blog and why?Animations! I don’t have the time or equipment to do them, but I think animations would go wonderfully with a lot of our posts.

1. Do you believe in ghosts?
   • Nope. But does anyone want to try convincing me in the comments?
2. What is your favorite book?
   • As you probably already know, my favorite book is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Dudes, this is an amazing book. Don’t question it. Just read it.
3. What is your favorite film?
   • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This is a movie that is equally as amazing as Six of Crows. I cannot wait for The Crimes of Grindelwald. I watched the movie for the first time before I even read Harry Potter, so I was both utterly confused and utterly in love. It’s a beautiful movie.
4. Who is your favorite celebrity and why?
   • I’m going to answer this question as specifically ‘favorite actor’ because if we throw authors into the mix, this post would be far too long.
   • I love Emma Watson because of all the work she does as an activist.
   • I love Eddie Redmayne because he’s an amazing actor. And dude, Fantastic Beasts.
5. Who is the most powerful person in your life? (Emphasis on power).
   
   • It’s not technically a person, but I’m going to go with my head because it makes me do a bunch of things I’d rather not (namely schoolwork) against my will and blames it on my sense of responsibility. Basically, my head is the parent and I’m the kid being dragged on a leash across the sidewalk while throwing a tantrum, but still being dragged all the same.
   • But being dragged is good for you because schoolwork is good for you.
6. Favorite song at the moment?
   • It’s still Mama by My Chemical Romance. It hasn’t been topped yet. (And I don’t think it ever will.)
7. What is your dream job?
   • An author/comedian/world-famous lazy person.
8. Describe your worst dinner party (use your imagination!).
   • I’m wearing a horrible, heavy, itchy, ugly, impractical dress.
   • It’s hot.
   • People are chewing really, really obnoxiously.
   • Spinnette’s not there.
   • It’s in a volcano.
   • The food is really spicy.
   • Everyone is making small talk.
   • While making small talk, people are chewing with their mouths open and the food is going everywhere.
   • All the people there are people I don’t like.
9. Invent a new word and provide a definition.
   • Bagoozale (noun): Informal term for strong winds that tend to blow cacti into clouds, resulting in cactus-rain.
10. You are a rapper who has reached worldwide fame, what is your rapper name?
    • Arachnid, but pronounced Arachnid.
11. Tell us the worst or funniest reason that got you in detention or in trouble.
    • Story Time! So, first, a fact. Elementary schoolers tend to be stupid in the common sense department. No elementary schoolers are excluded. Apologies to all elementary schoolers, but this cannot be denied.
    • So. At our elementary school, in the winter EVERYONE would hunker down and mine ice. We’d form tribes of elementary schoolers, either organized by grade, class, or friend groups, depending on whether people felt like working together. (But, of course, some decided to go lone wolf.)
    • When the parking lot and the paved part of the playground were shoveled, the snow plows would leave the piles of snow on the edge of the playground. Hidden in these hard-packed snow piles were chunks of ice. Elementary schoolers of all ages would use other pieces of ice to chip away at the piles to collect more ice and carefully hide this ice for the entirety of recess.
    • It was hard work and no one really knew what the point was. It was always “We’ll eventually do something with this ice,” but that something was always postponed until everything melted. It’s like mindlessly doing the same taxing, but useless, thing over and over and over again until everything is destroyed then starting over again in an endless circle forever. Oh, wait. It’s exactly like that.
    • The ice-mining elementary schooler tribes would often raid other tribes’ ice-storage facilities (also made of ice), which is why the ice had to be hidden so carefully. Even so, someone always found it, so a day’s work was always reset the next day.
    • Throughout all this mess, no one ever realized the futility of it all.
    • Anyway, one day in first grade, the teacher whistled on her whistle to signal the end of recess, but my friend and I weren’t done hiding our ice and my friend demanded that I help her so I wouldn’t be the reason that someone steals all our ice (even though this is an inevitable fate).
    • So now first-grade me had a difficult choice to make. Teacher or friend? Should I listen to the authority figure or should I succumb to peer pressure?
    • I succumbed to peer pressure and helped my friend shove the ice underneath a pine tree.
    • We were late.
    • I got my first yellow card.

Going off topic now, is peer pressure really always a bad thing? Sure there’s negative peer pressure, which is what everyone tells you to avoid (as you should), but I think peer pressure can be good too. I tried a lot of new things because of peer pressure, like tubing, roller coasters, root beer, etc. that I wouldn’t have otherwise. And while I didn’t really like any of those three examples, I’m glad I tried them so I know what to avoid in the future.

So many things excite me! Cactus, kittens, Iceland, bronze thread, dark chocolate, mint, new food (especially desserts), SUGAR, new music, old music, etc.

The Home Page

Okay, so many things wrong with this. First, it wasn’t even on the home page. I didn’t know the difference between the home page and a post. Second, it wasn’t put in a category and it was tagged with only “home page”. Third, ~two hundred posts later, I’m glad my writing style has improved.

I was born in Canada, but I grew up in a smallish town in Michigan and I recently moved to a different, slightly larger but still smallish town in Michigan and I left Spinette behind. *quiet weeping*

8) What inspired you to start blogging?

My very first blog was started two years ago on a school field trip and it died in about three weeks. You could say my teacher inspired me to start blogging.

9) Who is your favourite person in the world and why?

Spinette because she’s awesome.

10) How would the people closest to you describe you?

It depends who you ask. If you ask Scorpion, he’d say annoying. If you ask my friends, they’d hopefully say that I’m quiet, but funny.

1. What is your favorite place?
   1. My favorite place is either the library for being so ridiculously awesome or Disney World for being the place of my happiest memories. Or maybe the house I grew up in for being so beautiful. I have lots of favorite places.
2. If you could have a conversation with anyone, who would it be?
   1. Keefe Sencen from Keeper of the Lost Cities. He’s my favorite book character and I’d love to meet him. He has a wicked sense of humor.
3. Your most used phrase or word?
   1. Lovely. I use it far too much, but to be fair, it is an awesome word.
4. What is the best part of blogging?
   1. Commenting and having conversations! I love talking to people all over the world about writing and books and blogging and a whole slew of random stuff.

   1. Shipping individual sugar cubes in the mail.

   1. Reading!
7. What do you want to achieve this month?
   1. I want to finish a short story. (Update: The short story has been completed as of 7/23/18)

9. Would you rather fly or read minds?
   1. Neither? Is that an option. I rather like the ground and I don’t really want to fly and reading minds would be awful. First, there’s the whole moral standpoint. Isn’t it an invasion of privacy? Second, I wouldn’t want to listen to everyone’s thoughts all the time. It’d be so distracting and it wouldn’t leave any room for my own thoughts. I also wouldn’t want to listen to every single thought that people think about me. It probably wouldn’t be good for my self-esteem. But if I had to choose one, I’d go with flying, just to avoid the mind reading.

The Questionz

1. If you reach an old age, what greatest/funniest moment of yourself (so far) will you share with loved ones?
   • There are so many funny moments to choose from (I am a clumsy person).
   • Once, I was eating breakfast with my friends, and I started gesturing wildly (which I do when the conversation gets intense) and I spilled my orange juice all over my lap. Later, on the same day, I spilled two liters of artificially colored pop on the floor.
   • For New Year’s, Spinette threw a party. She told me it was Western-themed, but when I got there, everyone was dressed in ball gowns. She had meant formal attire from the Western side of the globe. So everyone was dressed like it was prom and I was dressed like a cowboy.

2. If you could switch two fictional/real characters, what switch would lead to the most inappropriate films/anime/books/situation? 
   • I can’t think of anything.
   • Hmm…
   • Nope. Still blanking.
   • Do you guys have any ideas?

3. What weird food combinations do you really enjoy or what strange food habits do you have?
   • I will always save the best bite of the food for last, which is counterproductive. The idea is that saving the best for last will end the meal on a good note, but usually, by the time I’m done eating everything else, I’m too full to eat the last bite so I end up just not eating it.
   • There’s not really a weird food combination that I enjoy because I eat everything separately. Imagine a random pedestrian hands me a plate of mixed vegetables and forces me to eat it because they are holding all my books hostage. This plate of vegetables has asparagus, broccoli, carrots, and kidney beans. I would eat these various vegetables one at a time. So first I would eat all of the asparaguses. Then I would eat all the broccoli. Then the carrots, and then the kidney beans. I’m weird.
   • I eat bananas from the side.

3. What is the most surprising twist you have come across in a novel?
4. • The most surprising twist I’ve ever read was in We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. I didn’t see it coming at all and it was absolutely amazing. A close second is in Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Obviously, I’m not going to tell you what happened in the twists.
5. You are hunting for a house to buy with your family. The only places available are Northern Westeros (north of the wall), Mordor, and Arrakis. At which location will you purchase a home?
6. • Uhhh… I’ve never heard of any of these places. Pass?
7. If you had to attend a fictional school of magic, which one would you select?
8. • I think this question is set up so everyone will answer with Hogwarts. Hogwarts. Hogwarts is the fictional school of magic.
9. You are the likable, but slightly useless, best friend to the main character. What one skill keeps you out of trouble?
10. • My impeccable sense of humor. The Main Characters of the world tend to be unfailingly serious and my ability to lighten any situation makes me a necessary addition to their team to secure their sanities. That’s why the Main Character will sacrifice anything to get me out of any pickles I find myself in.
11. If you had to read every single book by one author, which author would you pick?
12. • Leigh Bardugo
13. Which is the best country in the world?
14. • I’m going to say the USA, but I’m probably biased. 😉
15. You are on an epic quest to save the world. You can take either a phoenix, a dragon, or an old bearded man. Which do you choose?
16. • Phoenixes are my favorite birds, but I’m going to have to go with the old bearded man, despite his inability to fly. Cuz beards. (Also, he’ll probably spout useful information when I’m in various pickles.)

The Awesome Blogger Award

Hey, nonexistent peeps! We were nominated for The Awesome Blogger Award by the amazing Jina S. Bazzar. Seriously, go check her out. Her posts are awesome.

1) Why did you start blogging?

I started my first blog, https://unicornia2016.wordpress.com/, because I was told to. It’s a guide to traveling to and living in Unicornia, but it’s dormant now.

Spinette started her first blog, https://unicornsightingsblog.wordpress.com/, for the same reason. (She’s the scribe for Ned the Narwhal, though, who doesn’t have fingers.)

My second blog was a book blog which has thankfully been removed from the internet. I started that one because I hated this one book so much and I just had to scream about it somewhere.

Both of these blogs only lasted a few weeks.

I have no idea why we started TheWebWeavers. It kind of just happened.

2) Do you choose the contents of your blog by random or do you have a system?

Obviously randomly. It’s kind of just whatever we want to talk about. (With the exception of Mellow Yellow every Sunday.)

3) Do you rather type the contents of your post on a keyboard – all ten fingers – or on a screen with thumbs?

I like my keyboard a lot. I can’t type as quickly on a tablet or phone and if I type slowly, I usually lose my train of thought, which would result in either a boring or choppy post that skips around. Imagine jokes where I’ve forgotten to add the punchline.

4) If technology was to become extinct but there was one thing that you could keep, what would it be?

I know I just said that I love my keyboard, but I’d probably keep my tablet because my laptop is pretty old and I can feel the last dregs of its life disappearing so I wouldn’t want to save its life from the doom that is the inevitable apocalypse for it to only break the next day.

5) Is there a type of blog that you seek to follow, or do you only follow those who follow you – or do you only follow the blogs that you really enjoy?

I only follow the blogs that I really enjoy because I try to read every post from the blogs that I do follow, and so I don’t follow all that many since the day only has a finite amount of time. I do try my best to read a couple posts from everyone that follows or likes on TheWebWeavers, though.

6) During a cold storm, would you rather spend your time reading, watching a movie or talking on the phone?

Reading, obviously. I spend all my free time reading anyway.

7) When you hear the word fantasy, what comes first to your mind?

Snowflakes and ash. Purple snowflakes and blue ash, to be more precise. No idea why. My minds a weird place.

8) Have you ever lied about having a commitment so you could stay at home lazing around or blogging, or just to finish reading a book you particularly enjoyed?

I will confess, I have claimed to have more homework than I actually do to get out of things. Not often.

I’m a rebel.

9) What’s a word you can’t stop using on your posts but think you should?

Lovely. I use it too much, not just on my posts, but everywhere. It’s my go-to adjective, but it makes me sound like an old-fashioned, stereotypical British dude.

Why 11?

Anyway, on to the questions!

1. If you could say one thing to the you of 2028, what would you say?

Why only one thing? Why not a conversation? And what is considered a thing? Is it an entire conversation? A single word?

For the purposes of answering this question, I will assume that “thing” refers to a single piece of advice. But if so, wouldn’t it make more sense for my future self to give me advice? But doing so might change the future. Unless, of course, the future me also got advice from the future future me when she was young. But that means that I got advice from myself for an infinite number of times and that doesn’t make any sense because who would have given me the advice in the first place?

I would probably say, “Always and forever love mint chocolate chip ice cream.”

2. You have just won the billion dollar lottery. What is the first thing you do?

Scream, probably. In joy, not fear. Then I would buy a ton of trees and land and plant an enchanted forest. If you were wondering what the second or third, or even fourth, things would be, I would buy more books, go to Disney World, and donate to a charity that supports the environment. And buy chocolate.

3. What’s one thing you would change about yourself?

There’s not really much I would change about myself. I am already perfect. But, I do have black hair, and black hair absorbs a lot of heat in the summertime. With slight exaggeration, it gets hot enough to fry an egg. But I like my black hair, so I’d make it so black doesn’t absorb as much heat.

But really, that’s not changing something about myself, that’s more changing a property of the color black.

My inability to sing because that means that (a) I appreciate other people’s songs better and (b) when I sing along to other people’s songs, it annoys my brother a lot.

This is a rather morbid question.

6. The best film you’ve ever seen? Why?

I don’t really watch that many movies. Currently, my favorite movie (I’m pretty sure “movie” and “film” are the same things) is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I don’t know why. I just really like it. But the first time I watched it, I hadn’t read the Harry Potter series yet, so I had no idea what was going on and it was my favorite movie anyway.

7. What is one thing you will never get tired of talking about?

Either Six of Crows or Global Warming.

8. Which punctuation mark is your favorite? (Like, ‘!’, ‘.’, ‘?’, etc.)

My favorite punctuation mark is: the colon. I love: using them incorrectly.

11. You are in a blackened room. You cannot leave. A single spotlight shines on a metal table. A man in a rubber horse mask steps forward and places two things upon it: a lilac washable marker and a plastic, orange Mardi Gras bead necklace. Which one do you pick up? Why?

I probably wouldn’t pick up either. “Never take lilac washable markers or plastic, orange Mardi Gras bead necklaces from a man in a rubber horse mask” is a moral from a well-known cautionary tale that I live by.

But if forced to take one, my choice would depend on the horse-masked man.

If he is the antagonist of this story, then I would take the necklace because that’s a much better item to use as a weapon than the marker because it can be used as a choking device.

If he isn’t the antagonist, then I would take the marker because I generally dislike those beaded necklace things.

100 Follower Mega Q&A Special!

Greetings, dear nonexistent readers! We are here today to celebrate fifty a hundred followers (who don’t exist, as they are nonexistent). That’s…fifty a hundred more followers than we expected, so…good job pressing that follow button.

In our post, 50 Followers!, we asked you guys to ask some questions, which we will answer in this Mega Q&A Special. After that, so we have fifty questions and match the theme of this thing, we had our lovely friend Ned the Narwhal from Unicorn Sightings ask some more…creative questions.

Note: So guys, this was supposed to be the fifty follower Q&A special, but due to our procrastination, we somehow managed to acquire 100 followers somewhere between getting fifty followers and writing this post. So wow, guys. Thanks.

To match the theme of “a hundred” instead of fifty, both Spinette and I will be answering each of the questions instead of every other question. Therefore, there will be a hundred answers.

 

Another Note: While we were conducting the interrogation, we realized that fifty questions are more than we thought and it was lunchtime and we were hungry so there are 27 questions. Apologies.

1. From mainepaperpusher, we have: Why the spidery monikers?
   • A: First, I’ve got to commend you on your vocabulary. (Monikers-a person’s name, especially a nickname or alias. [definition courtesy of dictionary.com]). We discussed this topic thoroughly in Why we are The WebWeavers, but the summary is that “We spin webs of lies to trap our readers” and “What is a storyteller but a glorified liar?”. Basically, our parents named us after spidery things and we worked with it.
   • S: ‘Coz we are cool, bruh.
2. From Plant Electrician, we have: Now that you have 50 followers how else are you going to celebrate other than answering comment questions?
   • A: We are going to consume hypothetical muffins.
   • S: I’m going to jump on my bed listening to screamo music concerning milk

   • A: I am Arachnid Weaver, and she is Spinette Spyder.
   • S: SPINETTE SUPER SPYDER—I am a distant relative of Superman.
4. From Plot Monster, we have: What is your favorite genre to read?
   • A: Fantasy. I have nothing against other genres, but recently I’ve found myself reading more fantasy than anything else. But it’s a really diverse genre and most two books aren’t alike. AND SIX OF CROWS.
   • S: Books that are well-executed. Any book that is good, is good.
5. From Mr and Mrs NW, we have: Why do you guys call us ‘nonexistent’? It’s really rude to say we don’t exist.
   • A: This “nonexistent readers” thing was spawned from the creation of our book, Slugventures: The Adventures of a Slug. When we were writing most of it, we had no idea that we were going to publish or do anything with it, really. We were just writing it to make each other laugh, and since no one other than Spinette and I were reading it, our readers were “nonexistent”. In Slugventures, we do refer to the readers as “nonexistent readers” and it just sort of carried over to the blog once we started it.
   • S: This is because you guys are, in fact, nonexistent. You are all figments of our imagination.
6. From Mr and Mrs NW, we have: Are you [Arachnid] and Spinette this witty in real life or do you save all of the hilariousness for the blog?
   • A: Definitely. Except witty comments are often rude, and as I was told as a young child to “not say anything if it’s not nice,” my witty comments remain locked in my head.
   • S: Yes. My charisma gets me high-up jobs. Hypothetically.
7. From Sophia Ismaa Writes: Where did ‘Arachnid Weaver’ originate from?
   • A: *Shrugs* Ask my parents.
   • S: Epson printer.

   • A: I have to keep my closet clean.
   • S: To have a world record of chopping the most footlemons.

    • A: “Grotesque”, “lovely”, and “yeasty”. I also like “puffy”.

    • A: Violet all the way.

    • A: My hypothetical people go to the very real Unicornia on vacation.

    • A: Gel pens all the way. I refuse to write with ballpoint unless I am in dire circumstances.
    • S: Ballpoint. It’s way cleaner than gel pens. Although pencils are my jam.

    • A: Against.
    • S: Against. I like people in small doses.
15. How many uses for paperclips can you think of?
    • A: A lot.
    • S: Earrings.

    • S: I kissed my first-grade teacher.

Why did you decide to have a blog?

I started my first blog because I was told to. I started my second blog, which was a book blog and has since disappeared, because I passionately hated a particular book and I had to do something about it. The current blog was started to promote our book, Slugventures: The Adventures of a Slug.

Why did you choose the name?

The WebWeavers was decided upon because it sticks with our whole spider theme.

Q&A Part 2!!! (Spinette Edition)

Will Ned the Narwhal retrieve answers or just the same anonymous identities as Nobody? Will he succeed in such plans, to expose these two authors to the world?

“Good morning, Spinette,” Ned the Narwhal greeted. “Can you step aside for a few questions?”

“Yes,” I agreed, stepping aside.

“Why did you step away?” Ned asked.

“That was only one question,” I said, distractedly, making eye contact with an adorable spider. “I was expecting more questions to come this way, after being so polite. Arachnid would be proud of me after telling me to mind my manners.”

“Oh!” Ned finally asked some more, blinking twice in surprise. “How is life with your very, very, very private neighbor?”

“I enjoy her company, as I do yours,” I replied. “It is fun to see her turn back from her spider form. The way the spider hairs crawl back to normal toes is mesmerizing.”

Ned raised an eyebrow. “Are you human?”

“I honestly can’t say for sure.”

He gave me another question: “How do you think Arachnid types on her keyboard? With two hands, or eight legs?”

“We don’t type. We appreciate old school.” Suddenly, I had an idea. A beautiful idea that would certainly involve Ned. I grinned, somewhat evilly.

“Uh… How old are you?”

“I’m—” I stopped myself. “How old are you?”

“22 years,” Ned’s eyes squirmed around the room, frantic. Was the way I was looking at him that scary?

“How are your trips to Unicornia?” I asked, questions piling up on one another. “Who is your greatest enemy? What topping do you like on your pizza?”

Ned backed away into a corner. “The trips aren’t great; Edna because she cursed me; and mushrooms.”

“Yes. Perfect.” I licked my lips.

“What are you saying that for?” Ned was shivering in that corner.

“I always wondered what it would be like, ” I smiled widely, grabbing his fins, “to have you for dinner, Ned.”

Arachnid came into my house, covered in black soot.

“Arachnid!” I hugged her as she squirmed away, not wanting associate with me. “Why are you covered in black stuff?”

“I ran into Santa on my way here. He was on summer vacation,” she said sarcastically, wiping herself off on my carpet. “I came here to clean myself, since I don’t want this dirt all over my house.”

I know what she’d been doing, of course. She was cleaning her chimney which I recently trashed by pouring glitter down it. It is a long story.

“Do you want some dinner?” I asked.

“No.” She frowned.

“Okay, ” I took her hand and led her to my dining room, knives glinting on the walls. “I need your help for something too.” Once she saw what it was, she turned to run away, but I held her stiffly by the neck.

Ned was sitting there on the table, eating some mushroom pizza. “Hi.”

“Hello,” I waggled my thumbs, shyly.

“I DON’T WANT TO EAT DINNER WITH A FAT NARWHAL!” Arachnid screamed, trying to struggle out of my grip.

“Shhh…,” I whispered, “We need to write this character out of our house! You broke my computer yesterday, so I need you to write him away!”

“Then why didn’t you say so?” she whisper-shouted, taking out her laptop. Instantly, she typed a lousy conclusion to this interview.

Then the narwhal swam away, magically forgetting everything that happened in that soot-covered house. THE END.

Ned started swimming away, magically forgetting everything. But I wanted to do more.

“This is one thing you shouldn’t forget,” I neared him.

“What? Who are you?” he asked, disoriented.

I licked his shiny blue-white head, savoring the flavor upon my taste buds. “You taste nice, but for future reference, spice it up, okay?”

“WHAT WAS THAT? DIDN’T I TELL YOU TO MIND YOUR MANNERS?!” Arachnid shouted.

I watched as the narwhal goes into his bubble, floating like a fairy in the air, never to see us, his creators, ever again.

 

Imaginary Q&A

The following Q&A is completely imaginary, which means it never happened. If you were to ask, “Whose imagination is it?”, I would answer, “Why, yours, dear nonexistent reader.”

“Is Arachnid your real name?” Nobody asks.

“Of course. When Spinette and I were born, our parents immediately knew that we would grow up to become spider-themed authors and named us accordingly.”

“Where do you live?”

“I can assure you, Nobody, that I live in this universe, or the next, or in Somebody’s imagination,” Arachnid answers, slightly bored and highly annoyed.

“How long have you known Spinette?” Nobody asks. He falls off his seat after asking this question and lies on the floor at Arachnid’s feet.

Arachnid sips her cranberry juice, unsurprised at his poor coordination, and answers, “Not longer than I can remember.”

“How old are you?” Nobody inquires from the floor. He picks up a spider and lets it crawl over his hand.

“Why do you ask?”

“Why does Anybody ask a question?” Nobody replies.

“Because he does not know the answer.”

“Exactly.”

“Moving on,” Arachnid says, moving on.

“Rumor says that you are part spider.”

“That’s not a question.”

“Alright.” Nobody pauses for a moment, rewording his statement so it can become a question. “Are the rumors that you are part spider true?”

“This interview is making you uncomfortable.”

“You mean,” Nobody says, the spider making a web on his shoulder, “‘This interview is making you uncomfortable.'”

“No.”

“Is Spinette human?”

“Goodbye.”

“Um…,” Nobody mumbles, picking himself up off the floor, “I’ll be leaving now.”

“Put the spider back.”
